  Town collecting caps, lids for recycled bench
  The Town of Merrillville is proud to participate in the Cap-A-Thon program offered by the Lake County Solid Waste Management District. We have a goal of collecting 200 pounds of plastic caps by June. If successful, the caps will be recycled to make a bench or picnic table at no cost for our community.   Storm Cleanup Continues
  Cleanup efforts are ongoing across Merrillville as our Street Department continues working through neighborhoods to collect debris from the April 27 storm. To assist residents with cleanup, crews will begin operating branch chippers during the week of May 4 to allow time for residents to place fallen branches at the curb for collection.   The Northwest Indiana Forum in conjunction with the Town of Merrillville will host a Data Center informational meeting at 5:30 p.m. June 11, 2026 at the Dean and Barbara White Community Center, 6600 Broadway.
